About the book:
Annihilation is the first novel in Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach Trilogy, a science fiction/weird fiction story about a mysterious, quarantined zone called Area X, which is explored by an all-female expedition of scientists who encounter bizarre, reality-bending phenomena and must confront the unsettling nature of the environment and themselves. The book, published in 2014, won the Nebula Award for Best Novel and was adapted into a 2018 film.
